Refunds, timing and access
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Refund policy | Not every cancellation gets a refund. Microsoft only checks whether you qualify after you cancel, so cancel first and then request the refund from your account page. |
| Billing cutoff | Cancel before your renewal date. If the page shows "Turn on recurring billing", the plan is already set to expire on the date listed and you will not be charged again. |
| Access after cancelling | You keep using the apps until the expiry date on the services page. Family or Premium plans also cut the storage allowance for everyone you shared with, so warn them before you cancel. |
Before you cancel
Cancelling drops your cloud storage back to 5GB of OneDrive plus 15GB of Outlook.com. If you are over that, you cannot upload or sync new files and you cannot send or receive Outlook.com email. After 6 months Microsoft may delete your OneDrive and everything in it. Move your files out first.
