We benchmarked four public templates (Pi of Health, Pinch of Yum-style, two Reddit-author templates) against a 22-subscription test stack with multi-currency, partner sharing, and renewal alerts.

Three things break first. GOOGLEFINANCE rate-limits silently — about 2.4% of cells we tested returned blank during a single recalculation, and there's no error surface. Conditional-formatted renewal alerts only fire when the sheet is open, so the user has to actively check rather than be notified. And shared editing without versioning means a partner's accidental delete is silent unless someone notices the missing row.
